Melinda & Paul’s Linton Gardens Wedding Photography | Central Coast
Ask any wedding photographer and they’ll likely tell you that one of the best parts of the job is the frequent travel to some place new, meeting new people and photographing in the uncharted territory of what may as well be considered your own backyard. It’s the discovery that keeps us fresh, motivated, inspired, on the ball. One of the greater things about doing this for a living is the small slice of life we are privileged to enter at every wedding; be it a family, a group of friends or a place of significant importance. For Melinda and Paul it was all of the above. For me it was something new, and it was incredibly exciting.
Chain Valley Bay and Tumbi Umbi are about an hours north of Sydney on the Central Coast of NSW. My starting point was the amazing house that Melinda grew up in, overlooking the bay, where access to the ocean is just a few feet from the backdoor. This is where she and her family
prepped relaxed in the morning. A few drinks, ample tunes, an abundance of sushi and most importantly, cake, is not a bad way to get into the groove before a wedding, let me tell you. Oh, and Alice the dog was rocking a tiny dog wedding veil. As someone who’s family pets are always dressed in appropriate attire (dog scarves are a thing), I can relate to the awesomeness of that. Frankly, when you start a wedding day with a vibe like this it’s guaranteed to resonate for the entire day, and this day was filled with good vibes.
Onwards to Linton Gardens, a quaint venue in Somersby just south of Peats Ridge, complete with an old white chapel and a long dirt road that lead us to an open ceremony in the garden itself. Partly shaded from the prying eyes of the summer sun, it was an intimate and emotional affair without a single straight face in the room. All broad grins, all the time. If there’s one thing that pent up excitement leads to though, it’s an insane dance floor by the end of the night, and I have the pictures to prove it.
This was my last wedding for 2014, and what a way to go out. Congrats to Melinda and Paul!
Special thanks to Madeleine Zahra for lending a hand and second set of eyes on the day.
